Bertha Merna, Former Resident Dies

Funeral services were held in Cheyenne Wednesday, Jan. 20, for Mrs. Bertha M. Merna. Mrs. Merna died January 18 at DePaul Hospital following a month's illness. Reverend Harvey Cutting officiated at the services held at the Wiederspahn Chapel of the Chimes at 11:00 a.m. Interment was made in the Lakeview Cemetery.

Bertha M. Wilson was born in Manville, Wyo., the daughter of Ira and Ione Remster Wilson on April 13, 1911. She remained in this area until she went to Cheyenne in the early 1930's. She married Arthur James Merna in 1933. Four children were born. Mrs. Merna had been employed as a typist at Warren Air Force Base for 23 years and also was a member of the First Congregational Church there.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Patricia A. McIntyre, Mrs. Judith Tottenhoff and Mrs. Teddy Ann Atkinson, all of Cheyenne; three sisters, Mrs. Beryl Dickinson of Lance Creek and Mrs. Wilma Merna and Mrs. Darrell (Verda) Grace both of Cheyenne and one brother, David Wilson of Riverton and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Merna was preceded in death by her husband in 1949, a son, her parents and two brothers, Fred and Harley Wilson.

Deepest sympathy is extended her family from residents of the Lance Creek Community.
