Leona McGinnis resident here 55 years dies
Leona Marguerite McGinnis, 90, Niobrara County pioneer and resident for 55 years died July 11 at Rialto, Calif. Graveside service was held July 14 at Rialto Park Cemetery with Rev. James Slone officiating. Allen Funeral Home made the arrangements.
She was born July 10, 1886 in Dawes County, Neb., and filed for homestead rights north of Lusk in 1917. She was a Niobrara County resident until 1972.
Survivors include her daughter Virginia Nickerson Wetherby, six grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles F. McGinnis in 1955.
