Ruby Lohr
Ruby Lohr, resident of the Kirtley community since 1922, died last Thursday, May 20, at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital. Memorial service was conducted at Peet Mortuary Chapel Sunday afternoon.
Ruby Lohr was born Nov. 13, 1898, at Manville, at that time a part of Converse County. She was the daughter of early Wyoming settlers, John and Ida Hanson.
Mrs. Lohr received her early education near Harrison, Neb., where she also attended high school. She attended Norman College at Chadron, Neb., and taught in rural schools for three years in Sioux County, Neb.
On May 14, 1922 she married John Harlan Lohr at Harrison. Mrs. Lohr had lived all her married life in the Kirtley community of Niobrara County.
Mark Lohr officiated and sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset" during the memorial service. Organist was Edna DeCastro.
Interment was at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in the Kirtley community. Pallbearers were Herb Hanson, Bob Holmes, Neil Holmes, Burdette Golden, Donald Heckert and Ted Erlewine.
Mrs. Lohr was preceded in death by her husband Harlan in 1978, two sons, five grandchildren and three brothers.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Porter of Lusk, Grace Wilkison of Manville, Ida McAdoo of Westminster, Calif., and Edna Kazandjian of Whittier, Calif.; two sons, George Lohr of Buckhead, Georgia and John Lohr of Lusk; four sisters, Clara Tibbits and Edna Hanson both of Lusk, Florence Heckert of Douglas and Helen Holmes of Boulder City, Nevada; one brother Frank Hanson of Van Tassell; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
