May Lincoln, 83, Died Friday, Funeral Monday

Mrs. May E. Lincoln, 83, resident of Niobrara County since 1921, died at the Wilson Rest Home in Douglas, Friday due to infirmities of old age. She had been a resident in the rest home for the past two years.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Peet Chapel with the Rev. C. W. Jervis of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Jireh Cemetery.

Mrs. A. F. DeCastro was organist. She accompanied Mrs. Emerson Bonner and Mrs. Lyle Eddy as they sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages."

Pallbearers were: Ed Marks, Charles Freeman, Dave Wilson, Dick Lee, C. E. Marvin and Del Crane.

May E. Orton was born October 16, 1881 in Springfield, Ill. She moved as a child to Western Kansas. She was married to Joshua Lincoln May 14, 1902 in Catalpa, Kans. The Lincolns lived near Jireh and Keeline until Mr. Lincoln's death in 1932. At that time Mrs. Lincoln moved to Lusk where she resided until going to the rest home in 1962. She was a member of the Open Bible Church of Lusk.

She is survived by six children: Leonard of Casper, Russell of Redwood City Calif., Floyd of Rushville, Neb.; Jim of Portland, Ore.; Fannie Gaukel of Keeline and Bill of Lusk.; five sisters; Mrs. Hallie Weddle, Lindsay, Cal., Mrs. Iva B. Hawks, Visalia, Cal., Mrs. Viola Brinkley, Monte Vista, Cal.; Mrs. Jennie Murphy, Grand Junction, Colo. and Mrs. Hazel Tomanek, Collyer, Kans.; 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, one son and one daughter died previously.
