Service for Mrs. LeRoy Leonard held here Monday
Funeral service was held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Peet Chapel for Mrs. LeRoy (Jean) Leonard who died Friday at the Niobrara County Hospital.
The Rev. Fred Bolinger conducted the service with Mrs. Frank Bozart as organist. Mark Lohr sang "Beyond the Sunset" and the "Old Rugged Cross." Casket bearers were Milton Himes, Denny Dobson, Al Titchener, Charles Vaughan, Vern Modine and Robert Fawcett. Burial was at the Lusk Cemetery.
Wanda Jean Roberts was born December 28, 1923, at Rocky Point, Wyo. to Otto and Stella Roberts. She attended grade school at Rocky Point and Gillette High School. She also attended college at Spearfish, S.D.
She and LeRoy Leonard were married December 12, 1942, at Broadus, Mont. They lived on a ranch in northeast Wyoming from 1942 to until 1963 when they moved to Belle Fouche, S.D. In 1969 they moved to Lusk where she was director of the Head Start Program until poor health forced her resignation.
Survivors include her husband LeRoy; a daughter, Nancy Williams and a son Pete Leonard, both of Buffalo; one brother Lloyd Roberts of Powderville, Mont.; three sisters, Viola Oliver of Hulett, Lucille Hillard and Bertha Mathews of Sheridan; seven grandchildren.
