Mrs. Larson, 95, dies Thursday

Mrs. Martha Larson, 95, and a resident of Wyoming since territorial days, died last Thursday in the West Nebraska Rest Home at Mitchell, Neb.

Funeral services were held from the Peet Chapel in Lusk Saturday afternoon with the Rev. James Davis , minister of the Lusk Congregational Church officiating. Casket bearers were Herbert Sabin, John Lorenzen, Joe McConaughey, Anthon Hanson, A. C. Tibbits, Carl Bruch. Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Emerson Bonner sang and were accompanied on the organ by Mr. J. P. Watson.

Martha Lohr Larson, the daughter of Andrew and Barbara Lohr, was born on Manhattan Island in New York City, April 15, 1867.

At the age of 5, she moved with her parents to Nebraska where the family settled on a homestead in Colfax County. After two years they moved to Schuyler, Neb. where Martha received her education.

While visiting her sister, Mrs. Annie Streeter, near Columbus, Neb., Martha met Malter Larson. They were married March 4, 1887 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Streeter. For about two years they lived on farms near Columbus, Neb. In February, 1889, they moved to Wyoming Territory and settled on a homestead 6 miles east of Lusk where they resided until the death of Mr. Larson, in 1944. Mrs. Larson then made her home with different members of her family. She was a resident of Wyoming for 73 years.

Mrs. Larson is survived by five children: Clara Thomas, Raymond and Warren of Lusk; Cecil Montgomery of Torrington; and Geneva McConahey of Borger, Texas. There are 13 surviving grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Malter; a son, Ralph; a daughter, Irene; and 2 grandchildren.
