Funeral services for Charles Richard Lund were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 2 at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with Rev. Delbert Dick officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.
Charles died April 29, 1996 at the Niobrara County Nursing Home following a long illness.
He was born Aug. 29, 1922 on the family ranch northeast of Node, Wyo., to Charles Sr. and Myrtle Lund. Charles married Kathryn Walter Feb. 2, 1942. The couple resided on the family ranch until 1971 when they moved to Lusk and Charles became an agent for Farm Bureau Insurance. He worked in that capacity for 14 years, at which time failing health led to his retirement.
During his active years Charles was enthusiastically involved in 4-H, was a trustee of Niobrara County School District #1, held offices in the Niobrara County Rural Fire Department and served as a member of the Lusk Town Council. He was also involved in IOOF and the Elks Lodge. Charles was a charter member of the American Missionary Fellowship Church at the Node Sunday School.
He was an avid reader, had a keen interest in history and a life-long love of music.
Surviving family include his wife, Kathryn of Lusk; a son, Larry Lund of Rawlins; two daughters, Brenda Pfister of Lusk and Kathy Kellogg of Spearfish, S.D.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
For those who wish, the family has suggested that memorials by given to the Niobrara County Nursing Home and the Senior Center.
