Emanuel "Mannie" A. Knori

Mannie Knori Funeral Held In Lusk Wed.

Funeral services for Emanuel A. (Mannie) Knori, 62, a native of the Harrison area and former Niobrara resident were held from the Peet Chapel in Lusk last Wednesday.

The Rev. James Davis of the Lusk Congregational Church and the Rev. James Keith of the Methodist Church of Harrison officiated. Grant Seifert of Kimball, Nebr., and cousin of Mr. Knori's sang "Beyond the Sunset." Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Emerson Bonner sang, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist. Maurice Keel, a life-long friend, delivered the poem, "The Cowboy's Prayer."

Pallbearers were: Robert Plunkett, Maurice Keel, George Christian, Vernon Chard, Henry Lewis and Ted Lohr.

Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mr. Knori was born December 18, 1902 to Samuel and Mary Noriesch Knori on his father's ranch north of Harrison. He attended school at the Warbonnet School and was a member of the Lutheran Church.

He was a lover of horses and when a young man he and Howard Cross, Maurice Keel and Bob Plunkett spent summers following the rodeo circuit in Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota and Nebraska. He learned the art of horseshoeing while on his father's ranch and in later years made this his vocation by shoeing race horses.

On April 23, 1928 he and Evelyn Ida Christian were married. They were the parents of one son, Jim. The family spent several years living in Sac City, Iowa in the fall and winter and on a ranch in the Indian Creek area during the summer. After the death of his wife he sold out and moved to Lander where he operated a livestock sales ring. During World War II he worked in the shipyards in California. After the war he became engaged in the shoeing of race horses and followed the racing circuit.

On August 13, 1956 he and Mary Una Bonnette were married at Detroit, Mich. They made their home in Hot Springs, Ark.

Survivors include his widow; one brother, Gustave, Jackson, Wyo.; one son, Jim; mother-in-law, Mrs. Nellie Christian, Lusk; three aunts; one uncle; several step-children and nieces and nephews. His parents and two brother died previously.
