Elise Klemke

Elise Klemke, 78, of Torrington, died July 16 at the Goshen County Memorial Nursing Home. She was born December 13, 1902, at Schribner, Neb., the daughter of Ferdinand and Clara (Shoemacher) Kurz. She grew up and attended school there. She married Emil Klemke on February 28, 1924, and they made their home in that community until 1927 when they moved to Jay Em where they were engaged in farming. They moved to the Lusk community in 1931, where they lived until their retirement in 1959. They have been in Torrington since that time.

She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Womens Mission League, and had been a 4-H club leader at Lusk, and belonged to the Wyo-Nebraska Oregon Trailers.

She is survived by her husband Emil and daughter Mrs. Lilette Heumier, both of Torrington; one brother, Martin Kurz of Houston, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Cordelia Chambers of Wayne, Nebraska; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Service was held at Our Saviour Lutheran Church on Monday, July 20, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Marvin Temme officiating. Interment was in Valley View Cemetery in Torrington. Memorials may be directed to Our Saviour Lutheran Church or the Goshen County Memorial Nursing Home.
