Last Rites Held for Henry Amend

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from Peet Chapel for Henry Amend, 79, of Lance Creek, who died in DePaul Hospital in Cheyenne July 29. Rev. Albert Gode officiated. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Robert Bramlet, Mrs. Otha B. Holcomb, Harry Lyon and Donley Unruh sang "Asleep In Jesus" and "Abide With Me". Mrs. J.P. Watson was organist.

Pallbearers were Dan Dielman, Wilbur Wright, Wilmer Baars, Leo Heins, Fred Wilson, and Sven Johnson.

Henry Amend was born May 14, 1879 in Russia and at the age of ten came to the United States.

He married Anna Katherine Geis in Lincoln, Nebr. in 1900. They were the parents of six children, three sons and three daughters. He ranched for many years in the Lance Creek area. Since the death of his wife in 1947 he has made his home with children at Keeline and Lance Creek. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Lusk.

Survivors include his three sons, John, Henry of Lost Springs, and Fred; three daughters, Mrs. Katherine Skillings of Lance Creek, Mrs. Emma Gaukel and Mrs. Marie Cox. A sister Catherine Elizabeth, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.
