Helen C. Klemke

Services for Helen C. Klemke, age 87, of Lusk were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 3, 1989, at the Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk with The Rev. Bradley Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Klemke died at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital in Lusk. She was born Oct. 29, 1901, at Mineola, Iowa, one of nine children of William and Anna Bichel.

She married Joseph C. Klemke on Jan. 8, 1939, at Mineola, Iowa, and they moved to the Hemingford, Neb., area. In 1935, they moved to a homestead in northeastern Niobrara County, where they lived until 1970 when they retired and moved to Lusk.

Mrs. Klemke was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lusk and was also a member of the Hat Creek Women's Club for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Joe of Lusk; two daughters, Vivian Akers of Lusk and LoAnn Scace of Houston, Tex.; two sisters, a twin sister, Ellen Knag of Alliance, Neb., and Wilma Jurgens of Mineola, Iowa; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

For those who wish, memorials to the Stagecoach Museum or to the Niobrara Senior Center would be appreciated by the family.
