Mrs. John Alter Dies Friday After Lingering Illness

Death came as a release from several years of suffering, to Mrs. John Alter, December 7, at the Spencer Hospital.

Coming to Wyoming as a young girl to visit her sister, Mrs. Elvina Magoon, she later met and married her husband here and has spent the whole of her married life in this community.

She died at 8:45 Friday evening, her death being attributed to the effects of Parkinson's disease.

The funeral service was held at the Peet chapel Sunday afternoon, December 9, at 2:30, with the Rev. Lawrence P. Juell officiating. Mrs. Judson P. Watson was organist and Mrs. Ezra Duncan and Mrs. Emerson Bonner sang "In the Sweet By and By" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."

Russell Bradley, Anthon Hansen, Walter Klemke, Helmuth Klemke, Charles Heumier and Clinton Dern served as pallbearers. Interment was in the Lusk cemetery.

Louise Adina Lipke was born March 24, 1884, in Juneau, Wisconsin. She lived in that community until at the age of 24 she came to Wyoming to live. She made her home with her sister, Mrs. Elvina Magoon, and homesteaded in the Young Woman Creek vicinity. Later she was employed for three years in the office of the newspaper then called "The Standard," which was later absorbed by The Lusk Herald.

March 14, 1914, she married John Francis Alter at Chadron, Neb. Three children were born to them - Wyoma Delores, Delmar Lipke and Avanell Louise. They made their home in Lusk and later started ranching north of the city, where they lived until recent years. They then moved back to town, where she spent the remainder of her years.

Surviving are her husband, John Alter, her children, Mrs. Donald Keys, Cpl. Delmar Alter and Mrs. James Hodgson, all of Lusk; three sisters, Mrs. Elvina Magoon of Lusk, Mrs. R. H. Aitken of Westboro, Wis., and Mrs. H. J. Somerfield of Juneau, Wis., and two brothers, Albert Lipke of New Richmond, Wis., and W. A. Lipke of Juneau, Wis. She is also survived by four grandchildren.
