Lee E. Johnsonbaugh
Lee Johnsonbaugh, 87, of Fort Collins, formerly of Lusk, died April 7, 1999 at Good Samaritan Retirement Village in Fort Collins.
He was born April 23, 1911 in Turtle Lake, North Dakota to Fred and Rose Johnsonbaugh.
He graduated from Jamestown College in Jamestown, North Dakota in 1931. He earned his masters degree in the field of education from Colorado State Teachers College in Greeley, Colo.
He married Madean Tatman June 7, 1939 in Greeley.
Johnsonbaugh served with the Navy in World War II, and was stationed at the munitions Depot in Edgemont, S.D. He was a member of the American Legion Witen-Dupes Post #4 for 37 years, serving one year as commander.
He was a member of the Congregational Church in Lusk.
Johnsonbaugh served as superintendent of Niobrara County schools from 1951 until his retirement in 1976.
He was a long time member of Lions Club International and the Masonic Lodge. He was active in AARP and Wyoming Retired Teachers Association. He was an avid reader and love to listen to classical music. He also enjoyed playing his violin and spending time with his family and friends.
His wife Madean preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son Richard Johnsonbaugh and wife Pat of Homewood, Ill., a daughter, Susan Chapman and husband, Ed of Loveland; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were in the Chapel at Fort Collins/Good Samaritan Retirement Village April 12. Cremation has been conducted.
