Mrs. Jackson Dies in Calif.
Mrs. Foster (Maude) Jackson, 85, a former resident of Lusk, died April 29 at La Mesa, Calif.
Mrs. Jackson had been in a convalescent hospital for several years after suffering a series of strokes. She had lived in California since 1952.
Mrs. Jackson and her husband, Foster, were residents of Lusk from 1926 until 1953 when they moved to San Diego, Calif. where Mr. Foster continued his life long occupation as a house mover and general contractor. Mrs. Jackson assisted her husband in his business, and it was not unusual to see her flagging traffic while a home was being moved.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Rockford, Ohio. In 1904 she and Mr. Jackson were married near America Falls, Idaho, later moving to Nevada, Mo., where she took special training in treatment of the ill. In 1910 she opened an office in her home in Broken Bow, Nebr. where she was well and favorably known as Dr. Jackson. She used a horse and buggy to make house calls day or night. Later she was among the first women to operate an automobile. He gave up her practice to move to the booming oil town of Casper. In 1926 they moved to Lusk.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph of Concord, Calif., and Vaughn of La Mesa, two grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, her parents two brothers and two sisters died previously.
Private funeral services were held in San Diego April 29 and burial was at the Chapel of Memories at Oakland, Calif.
