Harold Fosher 68, Dies Friday

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two for Harold A. Fosher, 68, who died at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital, Friday morning of a lingering illness.

Services were held at the Peet Chapel, with Minister Gerald Parriot of Scottsbluff assisted by Minister Ed McQueen, of Casper officiating. Burial was in the Lusk cemetery.

Mrs. J. P. Watson, organist, accompanied Mrs. Hobart Cockerham as she sang "He Understands." Romona Kuhl and Anita Hoff "Sweet Bye and Bye."

Honorary casket bearers were: Ray Baughn, Bud Cantwell, Harold Parriot, Bob McDaniel, Otto Krekeler and Marion Rasmussen.

Casket bearers were: Ron Smock, Bill Rush, Al Davenport, Widd Merchen, Alvin Alexander and Paul Thrasher.

Harold A. Fosher was born October 3, 1898 at Lander, Wyo., to Mathias and Mollie Whitner Fosher. He spent his early days there, where he learned to hunt and fish.

In 1907 he moved with his parents to Mariaville, Nebr. where they resided on a farm until 1914, when the family moved to a homestead south of Manville, where he grew to manhood.

June 2, 1926, he was married to Vernal Lamb at Hot Springs, S. Dak. They continued their near Manville. In 1930, they purchased the Hidden Valley Ranch, where they resided for 35 years

Two years ago when Mr. Fosher's health began to fail, they moved to their home in Lusk on Oak Street.

Mr. and Mrs. Fosher celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with Open House at their home, hosted by their sons and families, June 5, 1966.

Mr. Fosher was always active in civic affairs, having served on the Manville school board for a number of years. During the time his sons were active in 4-H, he served as county council president and leader. He was Federal Land Bank Director for a number of years and ASC committeeman. He was a Niobrara deputy assessor for a number of years.

From his youth his love for hunting and fishing grew, and this love instilled in his sons, has been passed on to his grandchildren. Sportsmen were always welcome in his home. He and Mrs. Fosher hosted hunters from all over the United States.

He is survived by his widow, Vernal of Lusk; two sons, Dean of Cheyenne and Ramie of Lusk; five grandchildren, one brother, Allan of Torrington and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

His parents and one brother Thomas died previously.
