Alvin R. Himes passed away on November 3, 1998.
At his request, there will be no service.
He did receive last rites from the Catholic Church.
He had been a patient of the Veterans Home in The Dalles, Ore. for 11 months.
Alvin was born May 3, 1921 in Alliance, Neb. and attended high school in Lusk, Wyo. and then the University of Nebraska.
He served in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific.
In private life, he was an agent for State Farm for 22 years in St. Helens, Hillsboro and Forest Grove, Ore. In 1972 the family moved to Caldwell.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine; a daughter, Carol and her husband, Jack Pierce; and four grandchildren, Mitch Pierce, Aaron Britton, Kristine Britton and Kelsie Britton.
Kathryn, a daughter, preceded in death.
Alvin was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus and was an avid golfer who had two holes-in-one in his golfing days.
Disposition was by cremation.
Local relatives include Jennings and Bess Ruffing, Patricia Smith, John Ruffing, Donna Ruffing, Jean Thomas, Evelyn Goddard, Milton Himes all of Lusk; Doris Leeling, Manville, Norma Bruegger, Van Tassel and Ruth Bass, Torrington.
