Frank Hanson

Services for Frank Hanson, age 78, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 1991, in the Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. A. David Donnelly officiating. Burial followed in the Harrison City Cemetery in Harrison, Neb.

Hanson died Friday, March 1, 1991, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. He was born June 14, 1912, to John Algot and Ida Mae Sides Hanson at the family ranch four miles north of Van Tassell. He attended school in the country until the eighth grade and later attended high school in Harrison. He grew up at the family ranch and lived there until his death.

He, along with his sister Edna, helped his parents until their deaths and then he bought the ranch from the family and continued to run it with the help of his sister and his nephew, Donald Heckert.

All of his family loved to spend time there helping during the summer and several generations of nieces and nephews enjoyed good times learning to ride horses, cut and stack hay and just having fun.

He loved to go boating, fishing, hunting and going to town to see his friends and family. He took his parents and various sisters on different trips around the country. One of the last for all of them was to Nevada to his sister Helen's 50th wedding anniversary.

He and his father took many loads of cattle on the train to Omaha and he loved telling about the good times. He was a member of the Lusk Elk's Lodge since June 24, 1951.

His family will always remember all the good times and how much they loved being able to have their parents and grandparents ranch to go as they all spent many good times there. He'll be thought of also for the many interesting stories he had to tell about things that had happened both on trips he had taken and that had happened at home. He'll be missed by all the family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Guy, Johnny and Bert; three sisters, Ruby, Edna and Florence.

Survivors include two sisters, Helen Holmes of Boulder City, Nev. and Clara Tibbits of Lusk; plus several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Paul Ellicott, Clyde Robertson, Ron Shoults, Mark Bruegger, Lee Bruegger and Jim Ellicott.

Memorials to either the Niobrara Ambulance Service or to the Niobrara County Nursing Home will be appreciated by the family.

Peet Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
