Sasha Blackford

Sasha Thompson Blackford, 30, of Lakeville, Minn., formerly of Philo, Ill. died Monday, May 8 at Fairview University Hospital Minneapolis. Memorial services were at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hosanna Lutheran Church.

Local memorial services were at 11 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Blackford was born July 28, 1975, in Lubbock, Texas, a daughter of Leif and Brenda Thompson. She married John Blackford on Oct. 2, 1999, in Urbana.

Mrs. Blackford graduated from Unity High School, Tolono, and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences. She worked from nonprofit groups, most recently at Minnesota Children's Museum and the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include her husband John Blackford, her mother, Brenda Thompson of Philor, Ill.; a sister, Allie Thompson White of Belvidere, Ill.; and her grandmother Mary Jo Thompson of Lusk. Her father, two grandfathers and her grandmother preceded her in death.
