Charles Ray Heckert
Funeral services for Charles Ray Heckert, 62, were held Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Dan Hickman of the Douglas Assembly of God Church officiating. Interment was in the family plot at the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mr. Heckert died January 22 at his home in Douglas from an apparent heart attack.
He was born December 19, 1936 in Lusk, the son of Wayne Edward and Florence (Hanson) Heckert. At an early age the family moved to Douglas where he was reared and educated. He graduated from the Douglas High School in 1955.
He entered the United States Navy in October 1955 and was discharged in 1959. He then returned to Douglas where he worked for the telephone company, various ranches and in the oil fields.
He enjoyed taking drives to the mountains and the ranch. He was a former member of the Samuel Mares American Legion Post No. 8.
He is survived by his sister, Alice Gorsuch of Douglas; his brother, Donald Heckert of Van Tassell; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.
The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas is in charge of the arrangements.
