Bruce L. Quintard
Bruce L. Quintard was born Dec. 17, 1935, in Harrison, Neb. He was the son of Merril and Gertrude Jordan Quintard. He attended school at school district #82 through the eighth grade and attended Sioux County High School.
He was a member of the Nebraska State Rodeo Association, sponsored by the FFA Chapter, which was organized in 1950. Bruce won several honors through this Association. In 1955 he won the National All Around Cowboy Saddle in Harrison. He was a member of the Rodeo Cowboy Association in 1957 and 1958, competing in the Saddle Bonc Riding and Bull Riding. In 1958, Bruce was a member of the Harrison Roping Club, holding the Presidents position from 1963 through 1966. He was a member of the Nebraska State Rodeo Association in 1959. He was also a member of the Old Timers Rodeo Association joining in 1975 and competing in all events. He qualified for the Nationals that were held in Las Vegas, Nev., in 1978 and 1979.
On June 1, 1957, he married Jean Fleming in Lusk. To this union were born a daughter, Misty Dawn, and a son, Casey Joe. Bruce and Jean resided on the Quintard Ranch, which had been in the family since 1889.
Bruce passed away at his home with family members present on April 29 due to a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean Quintard, Misty (Philip) Skavdahl of Harrison, Casey (Callie) Quintard of Big Piney, grand children, Amber Skavdahl and Echo (Chris) Juhnke of Harrison, Tucker, Hadley, Donnell, Colt and Wyatt Quintard of Big Piney. Great Grandchildren, Karlee Juhnke and Shane Gluth of Harrison, Neb. Brother, Lloyd (Sallie) Quintard of Harrison, Neb., and sisters Barbara (Phil) Joss and Loretta Serres both of Lusk. Mother-in-law Ruth Fleming of Lusk and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Services will be held on May 4 at 2 p.m. at the Harrison Bible Church with Pastor Matt Parker and Pastor Gary Walker officiating.
Burial will be at the Quintard family cemetery. Memorials maybe sent to the Security Bank of Harrison, with you choice of either the Harrison Bible Church or the Rescue Squad.
