Last Rites Held for Guy Hanson Last Thursday

Funeral services for Guy W. Hanson were held last Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist Memorial Church with Rev. J. Lee Gorman officiating. A choir sang two hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "God Will Take Care of You." Mrs. Dorothy Todd was organist. Burial was made in Harrison Cemetery. The Sioux Lodge No. 277 conducted Masonic rites.

Active pallbearers were Ted King, Dick Carnahan, Morris Engebretsen, John C. Marsteller, Dick Herren and Robert Mann. Honorary pallbearers were W. E. Mumby, Tress Powell, J.A. McClarey, Tom Hunter, O. L. Fox, Harry Wasserburger, Martin Wasserburger, Otto York, Russell From, Art From, Lester Dunn, Ord Anstey, and Vernon Dunn.

Guy William Hanson was born April 29, 1897, at Coffee Siding section house, Nebr., and died at Phoenix, Ariz., Feb. 3, at the age of 70.

Mr. Hanson, son of John and Ida Hanson, spent his early life on a ranch west of Harrison. After completing elementary education, he attended Grand Island Business College for two years, then returned to ranching with his father. He became a member of the Masonic Lodge in January 1920.

On June 4, 1921, he married Annie Angeline Lohr of Kirtley, Wyo. Six children were born five of whom are living. A daughter died in childhood.

The family lived on a ranch ten miles Northwest of Harrison until 1943 when they moved to Harrison where they lived until the death of his wife, Angie, in 1961. During the time they lived in Harrison he did extensive carpenter work throughout the community. He served on the Village Board and served as a member of the Sioux County Fair Board for many years.

In September 1962 he was married to Hazel Coffee of Harrison. Since that time their summers have been spent in Harrison and the winter months traveling extensively.

Surviving in addition to Hazel, his wife are his five children, Mrs. Caroline Pyle, Martin, S. Dak., Ralph E. Hanson, Lusk, Wyo., Robert Hanson, Madison, Tenn., Herbert D. Hanson, Harrison and Mrs. Wilma Geiser, Ardmore, S. Dak.; and two step-children, Bill Coffee of Harrison and Mrs. Jane Sumpter of Phoenix; one brother, Frank of Harrison; five sisters, Miss Edna Hanson of Harrison, Mrs. Clara Tibbitts and Mrs. Ruby Lohr of Lusk, Mrs. Florence Heckert of Douglas, Wyo., and Mrs. Helen Holmes of Boulder City, Nev.; 18 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

Besides his first wife, a daughter, his parents and two brothers died previously.
