Death Notice - Edna Hanson

Edna Hansen, 86, died Sunday, Feb. 22 at the Niobrara County memorial Nursing Home in Lusk.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Peet Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Scott Grimshaw officiating. Burial will follow at the Harrison City Cemetery.

Edna Mae Hanson

Services were Friday, Feb. 27 for Edna Mae Hanson, 86, at Peet Mortuary Chapel. She died Feb. 22, 1987 at Niobrara County Memorial Nursing Home.

Burial was at the Harrison, NE cemetery. Memorials to the Niobrara Nursing Home would be appreciated.

Miss Hanson was born April 27, 1900 to Ida Mae (Sides) and John A. Hanson at the family ranch near Van Tassell.

She attended school for the first few years in Harrison, NE and later in the country near the family homestead.

She stayed on the ranch, helping to take care of her younger brothers and sisters and later her mother and father. Her many nieces and nephews and later their children spent summers and vacations at the ranch and she became a second mother to them. After her parents' death, she helped her brother, Frank, on the ranch.

She owned a boat and she and Frank often joined the family at the lake on summer weekends and on trips to Yellowstone where she loved to go fishing and camping.

In 1970, when her health failed, she moved to her sister's home in Lusk. She became very ill in March 1981 and moved to the Niobrara Nursing Home, where she lived until her death.

Miss Hanson was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ruby and Florence and three brothers, Guy, Bert and Johnny.

Survivors include two sisters, Helen Holmes of Boulder City, NV, and Clara Tibbets of Lusk; and a brother, Frank of Van Tassell and many nieces and nephews.
