Jack D. Grant
Jack D. Grant died Sunday, Dec. 1, 1985, at his home, in Lusk, while feeding his birds and squirrels as he loved to do. He was 67.
He was born Jan. 2, 1918 in Crawford, Neb., the son of Mae and Cecil Grant.
He married Grace Winkleman April 6, 1940. They lived in Crawford until he entered the Army in 1941. He served one year at Fort Robinson and two years in the Burma China Remount Division. When he returned, he worked as a service manager at the Buick garage until they moved to Newcastle in 1964. He worked at the Buick garage there until 1976 when they moved to Lusk to operate the Kwik Stop. He retired in 1980.
He was a member of the Chadron Elks Lodge, the American Legion, the V.F.W,
The Crawford Methodist Church and had been a member of the Volunteer Fire Department in Crawford for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Grace of Lusk; a sister Ruth Kirby of Chadron; a brother, Cecil of Thermopolis, and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Memorials to the Lusk Niobrara Ambulance Service, the Lusk Volunteer Fire Department or the Crawford Volunteer Fire Department would be appreciated by the family.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday (Dec.4) at Peet Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. Frank Bozart will officiate. Burial will be in Lusk Cemetery.
