Horace Woodson Graham

Funeral services for Horace Woodson Graham, 81, of Wheatland, were held April 24 at First Baptist Church in Lusk, with Rev. Delbert Dick of the American Missionary Fellowship officiating. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Horace Graham, formerly of Lusk, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.

He was born March 8, 1918 in North Platte, Neb., the son of Woodson and Lola (Smith) Graham.

He moved with his family from the Nebraska Sandhills to the Red Bird community north of Lusk in 1929.

He married Ruth Stephensen on February 7, 1942, in Yuma, Ariz. They made their home in San Diego, Calif., where he worked in an airplane factory and as a painter in an auto body shop.

In 1949 they purchased the family ranch north of Lusk, where they lived and ranched until 1969, when they moved to Pfister Farms east of Lusk. He retired in 1985 and they moved to Wheatland.

He was affiliated with the American Missionary Fellowship for many years and was a member of the Wheatland I.O.O.F. Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Wheatland, daughters, Sandra and Gary Wrhel of Cheyenne, Pamela and Paul Parmely of Boulder City, Nevada, Gail Graham of Fort Collins, Colo., and Dixie and Jeff Brewer of Wheatland; sisters, Chrystal Johnston of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Audrey Howes of Casper, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Doris Kane.

Serving as pallbearers were Ron Pfister, Rod Pfister, Bob Pfister, J. D., Wasserburger, Ron Shoults and Jerry King.

Memorials to Niobrara Memorial Hospital, or to Platte County Memorial Hospital, 201 14th Street. Wheatland, Wy 82201, would be appreciated by the family.

Platte Funeral Chapel of Wheatland was in charge of arrangements.
