William G. Hammond
William G. Hammond, a longtime Lusk resident, died Monday, March 16, 1987 in Douglas after a long illness.
Services were Friday, March 20 at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk with Rev. Nick Natelli officiating. Burial was in Lusk Cemetery with graveside military honors.
He was born Jan. 5, 1922 in Aredale, IA, to Alex and Agnes Hammond. He served in the U.S. Army from 1939 until his retirement in 1950. During World War II he served in the Pacific.
On Dec. 9, 1950 he married Marian Nolda. They moved to Lusk in 1963 and owned Niobrara R.V. and Radio until 1978. While in Lusk, he served one and one-half terms as mayor, from 1976-78. The past few years they lived in Yuma, AZ.
He was preceded in death by one son, Mark; his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Marian; a son, Mike, of Brawley, CA; two daughters, Karla Smith of Des Moines, IA and Kris Ward of Casper; one daughter-in-law and two sons-in-law; three granddaughters and many other relatives and friends.

Word has been received of the death of former Lusk resident William G. Hammond. He died march 16, 1987 in Douglas.
Hammond was Lusk mayor from 1976-78. Funeral services will be Friday, March 20 at Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk.
