Henry Geike Dies Sunday; Neb. Services

Henry Ferdinand Geike, 73, Lusk, died Sunday Aug. 30, at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at the Redeemer Lutheran Church at Harrison, Neb. with the Peet Mortuary of Lusk in charge. The Rev. Thomas Jacobsen of Crawford officiated at the services at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial was in the Harrison Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas Jacobsen, organist, accompanied the congregation as they sang "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages."

Casket bearers were Carl Engebretsen, Melvin Grote, Adolph Zurcher, Joe Whiteaker, Albert Rabe and Morris Engebretzen.

He was born November 22, 1896 in Lockport, Ill., to August and Bertha Holtz Geike. The family came to Sioux County Nebraska in 1905 and located 13 miles northeast of Harrison, where he spent his younger years. He joined the armed forces in 1917 and served his country in World War I. In September 1925 he joined the Redeemer Lutheran Church by confirmation and remained a member.

On December 12, 1925, He married Orpha L. Keebler of Sterling, Neb. They were the parents of four children, all surviving.

His parents, two sisters and two brothers died previously.

Survivors include his widow, Orpha of the family home in Lusk; three sons, Wendell F. of Lusk; Herbert A., of Harrison; Howard E; Edgerton; one daughter, Vesta C. Hutchison, Dubois, Wyo; ten grandchildren; one sister, Carrie Burke of Lusk; one brother, Rudolph, Harrison.
