Iris Erlewine Dies in Calif.

Mrs. Iris Erlewine, 59, native of this area, died in a San Bernardino, Calif., hospital last Thursday. She had been ill for some time.

She and her late husband, Glenn (Moon) managed several cafes in Lusk and in 1959 built Moon's Chat and Chew near N.C.H.S. After Mr. Erlewine's death September 17, 1961, Mrs. Erlewine continued to operate the business until 1964. Since then she has spent part of her time in San Bernardino with her daughter, Mrs. Burdette Golden, Mr. Golden and children, but still maintained her home in Lusk.

Funeral services were held at the Peet Mortuary Tuesday afternoon with the Reverend Neil Warner of the First Methodist Church of Douglas officiating.

Mrs. Edna DeCastro, organist, and Mrs. Hobart Cockreham sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone".

Casket bearers were her nephews Ralph Hanson, Herb Hanson, Walt Lohr, John Lohr, Gene Lohr and Phil Brewster.

Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Iris Lohr Erlewine was born at Kirtley, Wyo., May 5, 1908, the daughter of John and Annie Lohr. Her childhood was spent on the Lohr ranch at Kirtley. She was graduated from the Harrison High School in 1925. She became an active member of the Harrison Methodist Church. She completed normal training at Chadron Normal School and taught school for seven years in Niobrara County.

She and Glenn H. Erlewine were married November 8, 1930, at Chadron. They made their home in Lusk and were the parents of six children, Mrs. Betty Lou Golden, Apple Valley, Calif.; triplets- Mrs. Gladys Stellpflug, Lafayette, Colo., Mrs. Garnet Heckert, Van Tassell and Glenn, Lusk; twins - Ted, Macomb, Ill., and Terry Ann, deceased.

She is also survived by two grandsons; seven granddaughters; two sisters, Mrs. Dolly Jones and Mrs. Verda Erlewine; four brothers, Harlan, Bob, Roy and Ted Lohr; one half sister, Doris Lohr; one half brother, Sam Lohr; two stepsisters, Mrs. Mary Peterman and Mrs. Dorothy Francis; and one stepbrother, Clarence Sporleder.

Preceding her in death were her husband, daughter Terry Ann, one grandson, five brothers and one sister.

Immediate relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Burdette Golden, Barbara and Byron, Apple Valley, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Stellpflug, Kay and Lloyd, Lafayette, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Erlewine, Macomb, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Jones, Nampa, Ida.; Miss Doris Lohr, Sandy, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lohr, Riverton, Wyo.; Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Peterman, Crook, Colo.; Mrs. Dorothy Frances, Sterling, Colo.
