Kenneth R. Freeman

Funeral services for Kenneth R. Freeman, 56, of Lusk were held Friday, May 18 at the Niobrara County High School Auditorium with the Rev. Delbert Dick officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Freeman died at his ranch home on Hat Creek following a short illness. He was born Aug. 21, 1933 to Ray and Enid Freeman in Lusk. He graduated from Lusk High School and attended the University of Wyoming for two years. He served in the Army for two years and worked with road construction for a year before he began ranching in 1957.

He married Mary Rose Bruegger Nov. 29, 1969. They lived their married life at the ranch in Hat Creek.

Freeman was a member of the Niobrara County Club, was a Farm Bureau board member, member of the Niobrara and State Rural Electric Associations, was a 4-H sponsor for many years, was a county commissioner for eight years and was a past chairman of the Niobrara Republican Party.

Si West gave a fine tribute to Freeman about his early years in 4-H and at the University of Wyoming. West told how Freeman through the years had chosen ranching above all else. The guests at the funeral were served lunch at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds Auditorium by the family.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Rose and a sister Leona Lembke of Brawley, Calif.; four nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald.

Memorials may be sent to the Niobrara County Ambulance Fund.

Peet Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
