Josephine C. Farrell

Rosary services for Josephine C. Farrell, 94, were held December 10, 1987 at Peet Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Bernard Bianco officiated. Funeral Mass was held Friday, December 11 at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Farrell died Tuesday, December 8, 1987, at the Niobrara County Memorial Nursing Home. She was born November 6, 1893, in South Bend, NE, the daughter of Nathanial and Lavinia Kaneff. She worked as a bookkeeper in Lincoln NE until her marriage to W. P. Farrell on June 3, 1921.

They lived in Lusk briefly, in 1922. They returned to homestead north of Lusk in 1931, and resided there until 1936. They established a wholesale candy and tobacco business in Lusk and the surrounding territory, which they operated until 1956. They sold the business to Earl McKinnis and retired to Denver, CO. They returned to Lusk in August of 1978 and lived in the Ranger Apartments.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one son, Jerry (Gerald) in 1981.

Survivors include her husband, Walter; one daughter, Joan; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Peet Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
