Funeral services for Mae O. Hoyt, age 83, were held Oct. 26, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church located at 209 S. 4th Street in Douglas. Pastor Frank Wiederrect officiated and graveside services were held at 2 p.m. in the Lusk Cemetery. Mae died the afternoon of Oct. 19, in Morning Star Manor in Fort Washakie.

Mae Olive (Blaney) Hoyt was born Feb. 4, 1922, to Samuel H. and Nellie (Evans) Blaney in Jireh. She grew up in the Jireh, Manville area and graduated from Manville High School. Shortly after graduating, she married James "Orval" Hoyt March 8, 1941, in Harrison, Neb. Orval worked in the Lance Creek Oil field and Mae was a devoted housewife and mother. After Orval's retirement in 1967, the couple moved to Douglas. Mae worked as a school cook until her retirement in the mid eighties. She enjoyed traveling especially visiting her daughter and family in Tanzania, East Africa. She loved people, valued her many friends and adored her grandchildren. Her hobbies included fishing, crafting and needlework.

She is survived by her daughter Dixie and Winston Slider of Chugwater, grandchildren; Ambika and Paul Schoening of Cheyenne, Tekla Slider of Kent, Ohio and Heather and Rick Stitzel of Burlington, Colo. Survivors also include a brother William "Bill" Blaney of Torrington and four great grandchildren.

Her husband, infant daughter and two brothers precede her in death.
