Mrs. Elkin Dies Here Wednesday

Mrs. Walter (Reba) Elkin died in the Spencer Hospital early Wednesday morning of cancer. She had been critically ill for some time.

At The Herald's press time Wednesday funeral arrangements were not yet complete.

She is survived by her husband, a son, Harold Summers of Denver; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Bone of Lusk and Mrs. Hazel Carpenter of Powell; three brothers, Beryl and Lyle Fullerton of Lusk and Ivan Fullerton of Riverton.

Funeral for Mrs. Elkin Held Fri.

Funeral services for Mrs. Walter Elkin, 51, were held Friday afternoon from the Peet Chapel in Lusk with the Rev. Jerry Beltz, of First Baptist Church and the Rev. James Davis of First Congregational Church officiating.

Mrs. Elkin died last Wednesday in the Spencer Hospital of cancer. She had been critically ill for sometime.

Mrs. Gerald Bardo was organist. A group of former students of Mr. Elkin - Susan Johnsonbaugh, Carol Taylor, Dixie Blackmore, Margretta Smylie, Patty Owens, Gail Eberspecher, Diane Lauer, Terry Foley, Mark Lohr, Rich Pfister, Dick Torkelson, and Clark Germann - under the direction of Jay Schaefer, sang "Now the Day is Over" and "Good Night Here and Good Morning Up There."

Pallbearers were: Lee Johnsonbaugh, Harold Gautschi, Otto Krekeler and S. R. Rist of Lusk, Rex Yocum of Cheyenne and Les Parsons of Casper.

Outstanding among the floral tributes was a piece purchased by the pupils at Lusk Grade School. Pupils contributed their nickels to buy the offering.

Reba Arlene Fullerton was born June 13, 1912 at Atkinson, Neb., the daughter of Ernest E. and Lillie Gray Fullerton. In 1914 the Fullertons homesteaded northwest of Jireh where she spent the early years of her life. She attended grade school in Jireh and furthered her education at Manville High School. Mrs. Elkin had a natural musical talent.

June 13, 1957 she and Walter Elkin were married and for several years lived at Bairoil, Wyo., where they both were associated with the school. Two years ago they returned to Lusk where they built a home and have resided since. Mr. Elkin resuming the music teaching position in the Lusk schools that he had previously held from 1953 to 1958.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Harold Summers of Denver by a former marriage; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Bone of Lusk and Mrs. Hazel Carpenter of Powell; three brothers, Beryl and Lyle Fullerton of Lusk, and Ivan Fullerton of Riverton.
