Funeral for Roy Elder Held Wed.
Funeral services for Roy Elder, 74, were held last Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Peet Chapel with the Rev. Frank Bozart officiating.
Mr. Elder died July 28 of a heart attack in Manville.
Pallbearers were O. M. Rasmussen, Ed Sanman, Leonard Gilbert, Virgil Hansen, Floyd Immesoete and Harry Cornell.
Mrs. Edward Poser was organist and accompanied Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Pfeifer and Mrs. and Mrs. Beryl Fullerton who sang "We Will Never Say Goodbye," "He Will Never Forget to Keep Me," and "When I Come to the End of the Way."
Burial was in the Douglas cemetery.
Roy F. Elder, son of Rebecca Jane (Jennie) and Thomas M. Elder was born at Atkinson, Neb., February 4, 1889.
He attended rural schools during his grade school years and public high school in Atkinson where he was graduated with honors in 1910. He attended Belview College in Omaha for two years. In 1916 he worked in the Sheldon Jackson Mission at Sitka, Alaska. While working there, he was called into World War I at base hospital #99.
He came to Wyoming in 1913 where he homesteaded in the Jireh community. December 11, 1932 he and Emma Vernon were married at Keeline.
1933-38 they resided within the Walker Creek community north of Douglas at which time they were very active in the American Sunday School Union.
After returning to the Keeline area, they built up a ranch south and north of Keeline. Two years ago they sold the ranch and retired in Manville.
Mr. Elder taught Sunday school classes and was an active member of the Open Bible Church for the past eleven years.
Surviving are: his wife, Emma, a son, Quentin Thomas Elder of Atlanta, Ga., two daughter, Roylyn of Lander and Lucille Smith of Cheyenne, two grandchildren, three brothers, Raymond of Atkinson, Neb., Ira of Ogallala, Neb., Perry of Boulder, Colo., and a sister, Mrs. Frances Anderson of Randolph, Neb.
