Funeral Services for Bob Dixon are Held Friday

Funeral services were conducted Friday for Robert B. Dixon, 63, from the Peet Chapel in Lusk at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. James E. Davis of the Congregational Church of Lusk officiated and Masonic services were conducted by Harmony Masonic Lodge of Lusk. Burial was in the Lusk cemetery. He died in the Niobrara Memorial Hospital December 27 a heart attack victim.

Mrs. J. P. Watson, organist accompanied Lee Johnsonbauch, Harry Lyon, Mrs. Robert Bramlet and Mrs. James Berry as they sang "Home on the Range" and "The Old Rugged Cross"

Casket bearers were Paul Percival, Riley Ross, Harry Brown, Glen Willson, Robert Darrow and Julius Peterson. Honorary bearers were Ray DeGering, Rosco Ross, Frank Johnston, Grant Ward, Zip Thompson and Emmett Ballard.

Robert Bertram Dixon was born to Snowden R. and Augusta Schmidt Dixon, February 14, 1903 at Newcastle. He spent his boyhood on his father's ranch 25 miles from Newcastle and went to a country school financed and provided by his parents at the ranch. Later, Weston County provided a school among some neighbors and he attended there until the seventh grade. His mother moved to Newcastle where he completed his grade school. He graduated from Newcastle High School in 1921.

November 17, 1922 he married Helen Fisher at Hot Springs, S. Dak. They were the parents of two children, Helen Mae and Clayton Raymond. They lived on a ranch 30 miles south of Newcastle until 1928 when they purchased a section of land from James Bensen on Snyder Creek and homesteaded north of it. He resided on this place at the time of his death. He had expanded his ranch holdings to one of the bigger units in this area.

August 26, 1945 he and Laura Kolego Rodgers were married at Riverton, Wyo. They leased the Wintermote place until 1949 when they moved to his present home and remained there.

Mr. Dixon was a member of the Stockgrowers Association and served on its executive board. He was a member of the Woolgrowers Association, a 32 degree Mason, a member of the Lusk Congregational church and was Niobrara County Commissioner-elect.

His parents and a brother, Gerald, died previously.

Survivors include his widow, Laura, one daughter, Helen Larsen of Silesia, Mont.; one son, Clayton Dixon of Lance Creek; five grandchildren, Loren, Bruce, and Caroll Larsen and Tommy and Kenny Dixon. Two stepsons, William G. Rodgers of Denver and Jess L. Rodgers of Casper; five step-grandchildren, David , Richard, Cheri, Walter and Darin Rodgers of Casper, a brother, Arthur Dixon of Newcastle and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
