Last Rites Held for Sadie Davis
Last rites for Mrs. Sarah L. (Sadie) Davis were held from the Harrison Methodist Church last Wednesday with burial in the Harrison Cemetery. She had died at Chadron Hospital March 17 at the age of 85.
The Rev. Victor Ireland, minister of the Harrison church, and the Rev. H. C. Johnson of the Crawford Methodist Church officiated. Pallbearers were Charles Umphenour, Ollie Seaman, Lester Taylor, Harold Wilson, Seth Tipton, and Eldon Fox. Mrs. M. H. Koch was organist and singers were Lilly Larson, Phyllis Osborn, Carroll Wallace, and Joan Hack.
Mrs. Davis was born Sarah L. Murphy in Adair County, Iowa, October 10 1876. She grew to womanhood in Iowa and married John W. Davis April 30, 1899. They had four sons.
In the fall of 1900 they came west settling on a homestead in the Kirtley community of eastern Wyoming. In 1910, they moved to the Harrison community where she resided until her death. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Methodist Church for over 70 years and of the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include the four sons: Irvin of Hot Springs, S. Dak.; Wilbur of Troutdale, Ore.; Ted of Harrison; and Wendell of Denver. There are 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
