Helen B. Dixon

Funeral services for Helen B. Dixon, age 91, were held Monday, May 8, 1995, at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with Rev. Delbert Dick officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Dixon died early Thursday morning, May 4, 1995, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. She was born February 20, 1904, at Omaha, Nebr., the daughter of Frank and Sadie Fisher. As a child she moved with her family to the Newcastle area where her father homesteaded. She attended school in the Newcastle area.

Helen married Robert B. Dixon on November 17, 1922, in Hot Springs, S.D. In 1928, they homesteaded the ranch on Snyder Creek in the Lance Creek area. When Helen and Robert were first married, they would ride horseback to dances where Helen would play her fiddle for dance music. In her younger days, she enjoyed riding horseback and working with the livestock. Helen lived on the ranch until 1990 when her health forced her to move. She lived with her daughter in Newcastle for a time and entered the Nursing Home in Lusk in 1993.

Helen was baptized at the Methodist Church in Casper. She was a member of the Wyoming Stock Growers Association and the Wyoming Wool Growers Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by one son, Clayton Dixon of the family ranch near Lance Creek; one daughter, Helen Mae Aarstad of Billings, Mont.; five grandchildren, Loren Larsen and Bruce Larsen both of Billings, Carol and her husband Chip Schoening of Spokane, Wash., Ken and his wife LeAnn Dixon of Lance Creek and Tom Dixon of Emmonal, Alaska.
