Funeral services for Myrtle Norris Michael Coy, 98, were held on Jan 5 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel in Torrington with the Community Hospital chaplain, Rev. John Olenyik officiating. Burial followed in Valley View Cemetery.
Myrtle died Jan. 2, 2000 in Torrington.
She was born Aug. 6, 1901, in Bedford, Ohio, the daughter of Emory and Addie (Rosco) Palmer. She moved with her family to Palmyra, Neb., where she attended school. She went on to attend Peru State College at Peru, Neb., and then taught for three years at country schools in western Nebraska and later near Burge, Wyo.
She married Morgan Norris and the ranched 22 miles north of Torrington. Mr. Norris died in 1955 and Myrtle moved to Torrington in 1958.
She is survived by her daughters, Belle Baldwin of Torrington and Evelyn Smith of Lingle; two sons Paul Norris of Billings, Mont. and Gene Norris of Torrington; a sister Blanche Waring of Minneapolis, Minn.; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; a step-son Earl Michael; and two stepdaughters Cordice Dinger and Eilene Shields.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Morgan Norris in 1955; Alfred Michael in 1990; and Elvin Coy in 1996; and one great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be directed to either the Swing Bed Unit at Community Hospital or Activities Department at the Goshen Care Center.
The Colyer Funeral Home of Torrington was in charge of arrangements.
