Funeral services for Ira D. Thomas, 70, were conducted from the Peet Chapel on Friday, Nov. 26, with Rev. Clyde Hampton officiating.

Ira Thomas has been a resident of Wyoming for 48 years, coming to the Hat Creek community in 1900. He homesteaded on land in that locality and had resided there ever since, building his holdings into a nice ranch.

Born at Warseegee, Ill., Jany 11, 1878, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Thomas, he moved with his parents to Battle Creek, Ia. when 4 years old and then several years later the family came to Sioux County, Nebr., where he lived until coming to Wyoming.

He was married to Christina Peterson January 7, 1903 and they are the parents of four children, Everette of Harrison, Nebr., and Ralph of Cody, Wyo; and two daughter, Mrs. Ira Roth and Mrs. Ruth Montgomery, both of Lance Creek.

His wife preceded him in death Nov. 2, 1943, a brother, Charley, died in 1916 and a grandson, Charles Stevenson, in 1944.

Survivors, besides his four children, included two brothers, Henry Thomas, of Miles City, Mont., and Sam Thomas, of Lusk, Wyo., and a sister, Mrs. Theresa Franzman, of Glendora, Calif.

Mr. Thomas died at the Spencer Hospital at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 24, following an operation for an infected and ruptured gall bladder.

The services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday by Rev. Clyde Hampton, with the songs, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" being sung by Mrs. Robert Taylor and Miss Neoma Taylor with Mrs. J.P. Watson presiding at the organ.

Interment was in the Lusk cemetery with the following old- time friends conveying the remains to their last resting place Ray DeGering, Hans Meng, Oscar Jones, Glen Langley, Edwin Pfister, and Billy Smith. 

Among the out-of-town relatives here for the services were Mrs. Irene Lewis and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Figgins of Laurey, Va.; Henry Thomas, Miles City, Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Thomas, Ft. Laramie, and Mr. and Mrs. Mongtomery, Laramie, Wyo.
