Succombs to Typhoid
Alva Bertram Johnston died of typhoid fever at his farm near Lusk July 23, 1912, after a sickness of several weeks. He was born at Morning Sun, Iowa, January 29, 1874, making him at the time of his death, 38 years, 5 months and 24 days old.
He came with his parents from Iowa to Ewing, Nebraska, when 18 years of age, and while there was married to Emma Meeker, to whom were born two children. He became widowed before coming to Lusk about three years ago, and last year he was married to Mrs. S.A. Bigelow. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church at Orchard, Nebraska, also of the Fraternal Aid Society of Winfield, Iowa, and of the Modern Woodmen and Oddfellows of Orchard Nebraska besides being a social member of Lusk Rebecca Lodge.
The following relatives arrived yesterday to attend the funeral.: Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Johnston, his father and mother, and a brother, A.H. Johnston, all of Ewing, Nebr., Harry Johnston, a brother pf Neligh and Guy Browning, a brother-in-law of Ewing, Nebr.; other relatives are expected to arrive today.
Besides his widow and two children he is survived by his father and mother, two sisters, and three brothers.
The funeral, which was in charge of the local Lodge of Oddfellows, took place from the Lusk Congregational church this afternoon, Rev. S. Burman Long, preaching the funeral sermon.
A.B. Johnston was a genial whole-souled gentleman; he had a good word and a cheery smile for everyone and his loss is keenly felt not only by his immediate relatives but by all who came in contact with him,
