William Delahoyde
William Delahoyde, 64, a prominent Douglas resident and for years identified with the LaBonte Hotel, passed away early Saturday morning at his home, following an illness which had confined him to his bed the past three months. Mr. Delahoyde first became ill about a year ago which made it necessary for him to dispose of the LaBonte Hotel. In March he went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester where he found out he had cancer. Mr. Delahoyde was born in Grinnell, Iowa on Oct. 19, 1880. He moved with his parents to Prescott, Arkansas at an early age, coming to Wyoming in 1907, settling at Lusk, then in Converse County. He entered the army in World War I and served overseas until the signing of the armistice. He was engaged in business in Lusk for 19 years and later at Thermopolis where he owned and operated a theater. In February, 1920, he was united in marriage to Miss Sadie Messenger of Douglas. Mr. and Mrs. Delahoyde came to Douglas to live in 1928, when they took over the management of the LaBonte Hotel. At his bedside when he passed away were his devoted wife, Sadie; his two sisters, Mrs. Mary Leake of Exira, Iowa and Mrs. Anette Johnson of Emmittsburg, Iowa; Mrs. Delahoyde's mother and sister, Mrs. Mary Messenger and Mrs. Esther Calwell of Sioux City, Iowa, who are left to mourn his passing.
