Mrs. F.H. Wallace Dies in California; Buried at Harrison
Gertrude L. Van Nostrand was born near Leon, Iowa, December 7th, 1876 where she lived during her childhood, moving from there to Tekamah, Nebr., and later residing in Omaha.
She was united in marriage to Dr. Francis H. Wallace on February 18th, 1903, at University Place, Nebraska, where she had attended the Nebraska Wesleyan University. To this union one boy was born who died in infancy in the hospital at Hot Springs, S. Dak.
She and Dr. Wallace moved to Sioux County in 1905, where they have made their home since that time.
Mrs. Wallace went to Los Angeles, California, in the fall of 1935 to be in a lower altitude for the winter and to escape the cold days of Nebraska.She was taken sick with the flu in February, from which she never recovered, dying in the general hospital in Hollywood, Calif., July 7th, 1926, at the age of 49 years and seven months.
Mrs. Wallace was a member of the Rebekah lodge of Lusk.
The deceased leaves to morn her passing, her husband, husband's father, S.R. Wallace, four brothers, and two two sisters, her parents having died when she was a small child.
The remains were brought back to Harrison, arriving at that place last Tuesday evening. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon and interment was made in the Harrison cemetery.
