Gayle E. Cork, 75, LaGrande, Ore., died Monday, Jan. 7, 1991, at Grande Ronde Hospital. She was a former Niobrara County resident.
A funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 1991, at the First Christian Church of LaGrande. The Rev. Scott Pricer and the Rev. Irwin Smutz officiated. Hope Chapter 13, Order of Eastern Star, also participated. Private burial followed at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum.
Cork was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Wray, Colo., to Wesley J. and Lula (Mathews) Hargraves. On June 30, 1937, she married Roy James Cork.
She was a homemaker and taught piano lessons for many years. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church and the Order of Eastern Star and the LaGrande Knife and Fork Club.
Survivors include her husband, Roy J. Cork, LaGrande; daughter Marlen Gayle Howard, Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
