Howard Converse Dies January 10
Howard Converse, former resident of Harrison, died at the age of 76 on January 10 at Ft. Pierre, S. Dak. Funeral services were held from St. John's Catholic Church at Ft. Pierre on January 12 and burial was in Riverside Cemetery there.
Mr. Converse was born June 15, 1886 in Woodbury County, Ia., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Converse. He went to school in Iowa and came to Harrison when a young man and was employed several years around Harrison and in Wyoming. He married Mary Johnson of Ardmore at Hot Springs, S. Dak. and they moved to Ardmore in 1929. He moved to Ft. Pierre in 1949, but has been in poor health for a number of years. He was a member of the Catholic Church and Elks Lodge.
Surviving are his wife and their two daughters and a son, Mrs. Jim Parsons, Hot Springs, and Mrs. George Wasserburger, Harrison, and Floyd of Pierre. A sister, Gertrude Converse lives at Long Beach, Calif. Three brothers and two sisters died previously.
