Bernice Jess Died At Hospital Mon.
Miss Bernice Jess, 16 year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Jess of Lance Creek, who recently moved here from Scotia, Nebr., succumbed following a heart attack at the Lusk hospital at 3:00 p.m., Monday, July 20th. She had attained the age of 16 years, 6 months and 28 days.
Funeral services were held at the Peet mortuary at 11:00 o'clock Tuesday morning, for her mother who is recovering from a recent operation for ruptured appendix. The music was furnished by Mrs. Robert Taylor, Mrs. C.E. Marvin, J.M. Hungate and and D.B. Caley who rendered "Beautiful Isle," and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye." Mrs. A.F. Vogel accompanied the singers on the piano.
The body, accompanied by her uncle, Ivan Maxwell, was shipped to Crawford, where it was shipped by train to Scotia, Nebr., where services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church. Burial was made in the cemetery there, Others who went to Scotia were her father, John Jess, Mr.and Mrs. Earl Maxwell, and Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Jess.
She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Jess, one sister, Mrs. M.E. Yost of Lusk, Two brother, Laverne and Elton, and two uncles, Ivan and Earl Maxwell of Lance Creek.
