Bess Mae Halligan
Bess Mae Halligan passed away at the Niobrara Community Hospital in Lusk on Sept. 4, 2019, at the age of 73. A graveside service was held at the Lusk Cemetery on Sept. 9, 2019.
She was born to Elizabeth (Betty) and Claude (Gene) Sutherland July 8, 1942, in Newcastle. She grew up in Osage, attending school at Kitty Moats Grade School in Osage and graduating from Newcastle High School. She worked at the South Side Truck Stop and Silver Dollar Bar as a cook. She married James Cole in June 1964 and to their union three daughters were born. They later divorced and Bess met and married Larry Halligan on May 6, 1975.
Bess is survived by her husband of 44 years, Larry Halligan of Lusk, Three daughters: Cheryl McMillan of Casper, Jewell and Marty Ross of Lusk and Jamie Bryson of Casper; Her twin sister, Inez Eutsler of Osage, and three brothers, Bert Sutherland and Bob Sutherland, both of Osage, and Dennis Sutherland of Hughes Springs, Texas; and many grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, and nephews, all who loved her dearly!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Gene, her first husband, Jim Cole, and a grandson, James Luke.
Pier Funeral Home in Lusk was in charge of arrangements.
