Mrs. Chris Christensen, Well-Known Kirtley Woman, Dies After Brief Illness
Mrs Chris Christensen, 58 years of age, died at her home near Kirtley, from the effects of pneumonia, after an illness of only four days.
Mrs. Christensen was stricken with pneumonia on Saturday, January 15. Dr. Reckling was called Sunday and because of the bad condition of the roads it was some time before he could get through. His car stalled twice and later some of the neighbors came and took him out.
After the doctor's arrival, it was seen that she was in a critical condition and he sent to town for an oxygen tank. Not wishing to take one of the tanks from the hospital, the mechanics at the Boyd Chevrolet Co. rigged up a tank and this was taken to the ranch and Mrs. Christensen was put under an oxygen tent.
However, the efforts to save her life were futile and she passed away four days after she was stricken.
Funeral services will be held from the Lutheran Church at 2:00 o'clock the Thursday afternoon, with Rev. A.I. Bernthal officiating. Interment will be made at the cemetery at Van Tassell immediately after the services in Lusk.
Pallbearers were Geo. Martin, John Lohr, H.P. Fancher, Wm. Brunkhorst, John Siemsen and Geo. Hecklebeck.
