Bert Bennett of Manville Takes Own Life Sunday
Friends and relatives of Bert Bennett of Manville were grieved to learn that the gentleman had taken his own life Sunday evening, May 12th, at his home in Manville.
Mr. Bennett had been in very poor health for some time and recently had been at Thermopolis taking treatments for sciatica. Mr. and Mrs. Bennett had just returned home form the hot springs city and had not finished unpacking their traveling grips when Mr. Bennett shot himself.
While his wife was out of the room a few minutes her husband took a small caliber revolver, placed it against his right temple and fired a shot which resulted in almost instant death. He left no explanation for the rash act and relatives believe that he had grown despondent over continued poor health. He was about 47 years of age.
Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.D. Thompson of this city; and by his mother and a sister and brother who live in Nebraska. The body was brought to the Peet Mortuary Sunday evening and the remains shipped to Clearwater, Nebraska, his boyhood home where funeral services were held on Wednesday of this week.
