Memorial services for Julialynn Butler, 75, of Riverton, will be held, Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, 2 p.m. at the Lusk Cemetery.

Julialynn Butler died Dec. 14, 2003, following complications from cancer.

She was born May 1, 1928, in Mitchell, Neb., to Fern and Lewis Haskin.

She married Oliver Butler, Sept. 25, 1945. They moved to Niobrara County and worked on the Shirwin Ranch and the Hester Farm in the Keeline area, where they raised their family.

In 1979 they moved to Jeffrey City, until retiring in Riverton in 1990.

While her children were at home she was involved in their school activities and 4-H, serving many years as a 4-H leader. She was active in her Homemakers Club and church. She loved gardening, hunting, fishing and reading. Family and friends were always well fed in her home and she would call "Gather 'round me," to gather people to the table.

After her husband's death in 1997, she went to work for Child Development Services as a Foster Grandparent. These children were her pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

She is survived by two sons, Jack Butler of Keeline and Randall Butler of Sheridan; two daughters, Joy Butler-Holen and Retha Reinke, both of Riverton; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Jack McElwee of Scottsbluff, Neb.
