Heart Attack Fatal to Shirley Deetjen
Mrs. Shirley Margaret Deetjen, wife of Henry Deetjen, Jr., former Lusk resident, died suddenly in her home in Hot Springs, So. Dak., Sunday July 25. Her death was caused from a heart attack. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Brooks.
Shirley Margaret Ayers was born October 17, 1923 in Scottsbluff, Neb. She spent most of her childhood in Lost Springs, Wyo. When she moved to Lusk she was employed in the McKnight Bakery, the J.C. Penney Co., and the Spencer Hospital. In 1942 she was married to Henry Deetjen, Jr.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 28, at 2:30 from the Peet Chapel. Rev. Lawrence P. Juell of the Congregational Christian Church was in charge of the services. Mrs. J.P. Watson was the organist and singers were: Mrs. A. F. DeCastro, Mrs. C.E. Marvin, Miss Justine Watson, and Miss Bessie Lumsden. Hymns given were "In the Garden," "Rock of Ages," and "Sleep in Jesus."
Pallbearers were Swen Johnson, Verner Johnson, Jack Kettler, Les Schnorenberg, Jack Immesoete and Arthur Keller.
Surviving relatives are: Henry Deetjen, Jr., of Hot Springs, So. Dak., her mother; two sisters, Mrs. A. W. Smith of Powell, Wyo., and Mrs. Frank Vasquez of Dixon, Calif.; her stepfather, William L. Brooks of Hot Springs, So. Dak.; one stepsister, Mrs. Eldon Burkett of Winters, Calif., and one stepbrother, Lester Brooks of Douglas.
