Joyce Olson

Joyce Olson, 90, of North Platte, NE, died September 30, 2018, surrounded by her family and friends in North Platte.

Joyce was born November 26, 1927, to Austin and Thelma (Thornton) Riddle on the family farm near Crawford, NE, where she grew up. She graduated from Crawford High School in 1945 then worked on and off for the telephone company until retiring in 1985.

On February 6, 1954, Joyce married Leo Olson in Hot Springs, SD, and they were together until 1981 when Leo died. Joyce later married Maynard Johnson and he passed away in 1990.

Joyce was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Claudia) Langston, of Lusk, Lance Olson, of Hutchison, KS, and Murray Olson, of New York City; daughter, Carol (Wayne) Shepherd, of North Platte; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Besides her husbands, Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James; son, Gary Olson; twin infant grandsons; and granddaughter, Amanda Olson.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. October 2, 2018, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE. The guest book may be signed at odeanchapel.com. Odean Colonial Chapel in North Platte is in charge of arrangements.
