Arthur Bernard Dalgarno
Arthur Bernard Dalgarno born October 5, 1919 in Casper, WY, passed away May 16, 2010 in Palm Desert, CA.
Arthur was the third son of Arthur (Scotty) and Eleanor (Nellie) McGeehan Dalgarno.
He attended St. Anthony grade school, Natrona County High School and attended University of Wyoming College of Commerce and Industry pledging Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
World War II arrived and Arthur found a new passion-the life of a U.S. Air Force Cadet, graduating flight school with rank of 2nd Lieutenant and pilot of B-24s. This experience gave Art a lifelong love of flying and appreciation of Wyoming and its wide open spaces.
He resided in Lusk and Laramie for many years, and was involved in banking and insurance throughout his business career. Arthur married his second wife Marie (Ballas) Dalgarno in Denver in 1974, and returned to summer in Wyoming in 2006. They wintered in Palm Desert, CA for over 25 years.
Arthur loved his University and contributed to many programs. The UW Athletic Department, Cowboy Joe Club, College of Agriculture and the University of Wyoming Art Museum were all beneficiaries throughout the years. He was a true UW Football fan, traveling to Laramie for over 5 decades and attending nearly every Poke bowl game during his life.
He held membership in Lions Club, Elks Club, Laramie Country Club, Old Baldy Country Club in Saratoga, WY, Pinehurst Country Club in Denver and resided at Oasis Country Club in Palm Desert, CA. Art loved to fish and hunt and for years went on an annual fishing trip to Alaska with his great friend Arnold Cunningham.
Golf meant a great deal to Art, as well and he enjoyed the company of his "regular foursome" - dear friends, Kenny Kujanson, Ed Isherwood, and Bernie Neary.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Marie, stepson Bill Ballas and family, sister-in-law Elaine B. Sash and numerous nieces and nephews: Michael Cash, Marina Jones, Shelley Swedferger, Colleen Engleman, Connie Williams, Carol Dalgarno, Shelly Nauman, Sharol Adams, Mary Jo Pekuri, David Dalgarno, Robert Dalgarno and Richard Dalgarno.
Arthur was preceded in death by his three brothers Joe, Con and John.
Services will be held on Friday, June 18th at St. Anthony Catholic Church at 12:00 Noon.
